CB&DC - Local Initiatives Program
Local Initiatives Program: (L.I.P.)
Industry Canada/FedNor makes available a $50,000 contribution through the Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC) organizations in Northern Ontario. These monies are available to not-for-profit agencies within the Parry Sound Area and are intended to support the “Community Economic Development” mandate of the Parry Sound Area CB&DC.

Grants are made available to a maximum of $5,000 per project upon completion and submission of the attached application form, review by Industry Canada/FedNor and decisioning by the Board of the Parry Sound CB&DC.

Applications are to be forwarded electronically, by mail or delivered to the Parry Sound Area CB&DC offices at:

Projects considered eligible could include:

- Pre-feasibility studies
- Research projects
- Community ICT strategies and projects
- Projects to promote innovations and new technology
- E-Commerce promotion
- Development of on-line business services
- Environmental assessment reports
- Small-scale capital projects
- Seminars/Workshops
- Marketing and promotion activities
- Community tourism events
- Other community-based economic development projects

AND

- Projects must contribute to an integral part of the CFDC’s strategic plan
- Projects must be supported by the CFDC as an active partner
- Funding will not create ongoing dependencies on external partners
- The CFDC will encourage private and public sector partnerships
- Whenever possible, projects will be cost-shared

LIP FUNDING CANNOT BE USED FOR

- Ongoing operation activities, normally funded as par to the CF operations argreement
- For-profit activities
- Activities that create financial dependencies on Industry Canada/FedNor
- Activities that require additional Industry Canada/FedNor contributions for other

programs, in order to be completed successfully
